Come and See; Come and Hear - Psalm 66

April 19, 2020

Psalm 66 is a beautiful Psalm that moves gracefully & naturally from worship to witness throughout. The Psalmist is so in awe of God that he simply has to share it with others:

  • "Come & see what God has done! He is awesome in His deeds toward the children of man" (v. 5)

  • "Come & hear, all you who fear God, and I will tell what He has done for my soul." (v. 16)

One of the blessings that we miss in not being able to meet together is the encouragement that comes from hearing how God is at work in each other's lives. So today's message is not an exposition of Psalm 66, but rather a display of Psalm 66, and more importantly a display of the God of Psalm 66 and His greatness!

In these testimonies, we're reminded that God is sovereign, faithful, loving, and good. We're reminded of His incredible grace, that though "our sins are many, His mercy is more!" We're also reminded of how we are to live as followers of Christ...and we hear these beautiful truths from multiple generations:"One generation shall commend Your works to another, and shall declare Your mighty acts, on the glorious splendor of Your majesty, and on Your wondrous works, I will meditate. They shall speak of the might of Your awesome deeds, and I will declare Your greatness. They shall pour forth the fame of Your abundant goodness and shall sing aloud of Your righteousness." -Psalm 145:4-7.

I encourage you to read through Psalm 66 this week and join in on the worship & witness of our great God. Notice how in vv. 13-20, the Psalmist makes it personal. He says,"I will," "my mouth," "I cried," "my heart," & "my prayer." Not only is God awesome in His deeds at a cosmic level, but He's awesome in His deeds at a very personal level!

So come & see; come & hear! He's inviting you! What's your response?

Love you all!

Wes
